JCQ - Exam access arrangements

Tuesday 3 September 2024

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has published the Access Arrangements and guidance for the academic year 2024 鈥 2025. These arrangements are available to eligible students taking public exams next summer.

Access Arrangements are pre-examination adjustments such as extra time, a reader or a scribe which allow eligible learners with special education needs to access the assessment and ensure that the Awarding Body complies with the duty of the Equality Act 2010 to make 鈥渞easonable adjustments鈥

Not all dyslexic individuals will be eligible for exam access arrangements 鈥 they will be based upon evidence of need and will vary for each learner. The school or college where the learner is sitting the exam is responsible for applying for the exam access and evidencing that a learner meets the criteria to receive the adjustment.
